Welcome to our research group!
The LAB-ICS is a mixed Unit that involves Researchers from the Department of Physics and Geology of the University of Perugia (Italy) and from the Istituto Officina dei Materiali (IOM) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR).
Our research group explores the intricate interactions between light and matter to advance the understanding of biological mechanics and phononic properties for advanced materials. By leveraging cutting-edge optical techniques, we investigate how light can be used to shield light on fundamental biophysical mechanisms at the molecular and cellular levels, and to study phononic properties to engineer novel metamaterials with tailored acoustic and thermal behaviors.
In parallel, through collaboration and innovation, our research aims to develop new experimental methods, theoretical models, and applications that span from biomedical diagnostics to next-generation materials with engineered wave propagation properties.
This interdisciplinary approach bridges physics, materials science, and bioengineering, fostering innovations in mechanobiology, optomechanics, and phononic engineering.
